Girls Groups
Girls who work with us in schools frequently ask for a way to reconnect with Rubies once they’ve completed their courses. We understand that teenage girls need safe spaces where they can relax, be themselves and grow in confidence and so we have responded by setting up 2 new types of girls group – GLOW & GEMS.
Our weekly GLOW groups are welcoming and friendly places where girls from all walks of life meet together to build friendships, try new activities and have fun.
We currently have 3 GLOW groups running across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland but more are being planned as they are so popular!
Each GLOW session includes food, a range of activities and friendly support from trained Rubies staff and volunteers.
GLOW is free for girls in Years 7-11 but places are limited and do need to be booked in advance.

Gems
We also provide a bespoke programme of support through our GEMS project.
Gems is a therapeutic wellbeing group for girls in Year 7-11 who need a bit more support, for example they may already be working with Children's Services or the Youth Justice Team.
GEMS groups support girls to prioritise their own wellbeing and encourage them to recognise the skills, qualities and abilities they have despite the challenges they may be facing.
